Kitchen Layout Principles

Convenience and comfort in the kitchen consists of two components - properly selected kitchen furniture and appliances and the correct layout of the kitchen. If your kitchen is planned correctly, then cooking will not cause you trouble, but will bring only pleasure.
Designers and designers have such a concept as a "working triangle." The points of this triangle are a stove, sink, refrigerator. These are the elements of the kitchen with which the hostess works most often, therefore the convenience of working in the kitchen depends on their proper location.
If you connect these three points of the triangle with imaginary lines, you get a triangle, the perimeter of which should ideally be seven meters. A distance of 4 meters is allowed for small kitchens. But remember, the smaller this distance, the more uncomfortable the hostess will feel in the kitchen, as well as others who are in it, since the free space will be very small. In againstin the opposite case, if the distance is over seven meters, during cooking, the hostess will be too overworked "overcoming long distances." Everything should be in moderation.
When you have placed this "triangle", you can proceed with the arrangement of the rest of the furniture.
Designers distinguish five types of kitchen layout.
The first type is a direct or linear layout. This type of layout is classic - along one wall - and is suitable for placing a standard kitchen set. It is used in rooms small in size or narrow, but long. With this layout, the sink and countertop is best placed between the stove and refrigerator.
The second type is the angular layout suitable for medium and large kitchens, as well as for square rooms. A kitchen with such a layout also successfully performs the functions of a dining room: in the furniture-free part of the kitchen there is a dining table above which you can place wall cabinets. With this layout, it is advisable to divide the "working triangle" into two parts.
The third type is a U-shaped layout. It is suitable for rooms large enough, as furniture is located along all three walls. In addition, such placement of furniture eliminates the use of the kitchen as a dining room - there simply is no free space left.Kitchen plan
The fourth type is the “island” layout. A feature of such a layout is the placement of one of the furniture elements in the center of the kitchen. The subject, which is located in the center, should be a stove or a sink: often in the center there is a work surface, a stove and a sink immediately. This layout is only suitable for large kitchens.
The fifth type is, as it were, a subtype of the “island” - “peninsula” layout. The layout repeats the “island” with the difference that one of the sides of the centrally located element must be aligned with the wall with one of the walls of the kitchen.
